Scammers target victims using popular money transfer app Zelle;
A few days before Christmas, Jeremy Zuck got a call from someone claiming to be with his bank, PNC.
It wasn’t PNC. It was a scammer who told him this:

PayPal Unathorized Transaction Scam
Police in Takoma Park are warning residents of a scam involving a fake PayPal e-mail or text message claiming unauthorized transactions.
“Did you receive a text or email that looks like this? It’s a scam trying to garner personal information from you and then steal from you,” reads an emailed community advisory. “Don’t fall for it. Ignore the message! Do not click on suspicious links, don’t return these types of phone calls, and don’t provide personally-identifying information.”Read more
