FTC Warns Against Romance Scammers in 2024

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) is cautioning the public to heighten their vigilance against romance scams as the new year begins. The FTC warns that scam activities tend to increase around this time, taking advantage of the influx of unfamiliar names in digital inboxes, making it easier for scammers to go unnoticed.

These fraudsters employ various emotional tactics on their victims, such as professing love, posing as military heroes stationed in distant locations, or claiming to have left behind children all as a prelude to soliciting money. If you suspect someone may be a scammer, it is advised to cease contact with them.
