An individual accused of being an Airbnb super scammer allegedly amassed $7 million by listing counterfeit properties and orchestrating bait-and-switch schemes, according to an indictment.

An arrest warrant has been issued for Shray Goel, a former vacation rental host accused of defrauding thousands by running a “double-booking bait-and-switch scheme” on platforms like Airbnb and VRBO. Goel and his associates allegedly accepted over 10,000 reservations, making $7 million by listing both legitimate and fake properties and canceling reservations using false excuses.

Self-Checkout Gift Card Scam

Fraudsters are acquiring pre-paid Visa cards and various gift cards from stores. They exploit self-checkout machines by entering their card details and desired funds but abandoning the transaction. The subsequent customer, often unaware, proceeds with their purchase, unknowingly covering the cost of loading the scammer’s card as it remains on the bill.
