The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission issued a warning on Sunday afternoon to its E-ZPass account holders about a phishing scam targeting them. The scam involves fraudulent texts that claim to be from “PA Turnpike Toll Services” and demand urgent payment of outstanding toll amounts to avoid late fees.
The commission noted that similar scams have been reported by toll agencies across the country in recent days.
E-ZPass customers are advised not to click on any links in unsolicited texts, emails, or messages. Instead, they can safely check their accounts through the official PA Turnpike E-ZPass website or by using the PA Toll Pay app available on the Apple or Google Play stores.
