Mason County Sheriff’s Office Issues Warning About Fake Deputy Scam Calls

The Mason County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) is alerting residents about a phone scam circulating in the community.

According to the MCSO, residents have reported receiving calls from someone claiming to be “Deputy Moore.” The caller states that the person has warrants out for their arrest and instructs them to obtain prepaid cards or use other electronic payment methods to send money and resolve the warrant.

The sheriff’s office confirms that there is no “Deputy Moore” making these calls and that they would never request prepaid payment methods to resolve a warrant. Any such call is a scam.

The MCSO is actively addressing the situation. Anyone with information or who needs to report a scam call can contact their office at 304-675-3838.
