Warnings for WhatsApp Users
Action Fraud has issued a warning after receiving more than 60 reports relating to scams that attempt to take over user accounts on WhatsApp. The UK’s national fraud and cyber crime centre said the scam starts when a criminal gets access to another WhatsApp user that has you as a contact, where they then try to act as your friend to receive information.Read more

Fake ID Scam: Swindling of Thousands
A man has been charged with larceny and identity theft after allegedly using a fake ID to steal more than $20,000 from a Fairfield County resident. Archie Longson, age 44, of New York City, was arrested by Wilton Police on Monday, March 27 on a warrant.
The victim first learned of the crime in April 2022, when they found two fraudulent transactions on their bank account for a total of $20,500;.Read more

Doctor, Pharmacist Sentenced in Drug Scam
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) — A doctor and a pharmacist from Alabama have been sentenced to prison in what federal prosecutors described as a prescription drug scam, federal authorities said Wednesday.
U.S. District Judge Annemarie C. Axon sentenced Dr. Paul Roberts of Fultondale to six years in prison, and pharmacist Stanley Reeves of Demopolis was sentenced to more than three years, according to an FBI statement.Read more
