The police described a frequent scenario observed in local grocery stores. Here, a suspect approaches a shopper, initiating conversation or causing a slight collision. As the shopper is distracted, either the suspect or an accomplice quietly removes items like wallets from the shopper’s purse or pocket. The thieves often leave the grocery store quickly and head to another location, such as a department store or shopping mall, where they use the stolen credit cards to make substantial purchases.
Victims typically remain unaware of the theft until they attempt to make a purchase and discover that their belongings are missing. The police urge everyone to remain vigilant and aware of their surroundings, especially in crowded or public spaces, to avoid falling prey to such deceptive tactics.
