An 83-year-old man from Saddle Rock fell victim to a scam, losing nearly $32,000 to two individuals who falsely claimed to be Microsoft employees. They convinced him his computer was at risk.
On January 18, he received a notification on his computer warning him of a compromise and urging him to call a provided number for help.
The scammer, posing as a Microsoft employee, claimed there was suspicious activity on his phone and bank account. He was instructed to withdraw $16,000 in cash to resolve the issue, which he did on January 19.
The next day, the scammers demanded an additional $15,000, which was collected by a second man.
Upon being contacted a third time, the victim refused to cooperate and reported the matter to the police.
After investigating, authorities arrested 47-year-old Rong Chen and 46-year-old ZhenSheng Yu on charges of grand larceny.

Nassau County police are advising the community to stay vigilant and to inform vulnerable individuals about the risks of scams and fraud.
