A North Delta resident was scammed out of $20,000 in a fraudulent tech-support scheme.
The Delta Police Department reported that the victim experienced issues with their computer camera and allowed a “third party” to access their computer.
“The complainant transferred over $20,000 to what they thought was Apple support and the bank,” noted a DPD release. “When further funds were requested, the complainant realized the situation was fraudulent.”
The victim contacted the bank, which advised that it would attempt to retrieve the funds.
