John Rigas

John Rigas is an American fraudster and a businessman. Rigas was the founder of Adelphia Communications corporations which was one of the largest cable TV providers during the 1990s in the U.S. Rigas, who constantly thought of developing his business, got influenced to try fraudulent activities.

He involved himself in bank fraud, wire fraud and securities fraud to enrich his business from the loans and money of corporate investors. He hid his company's $2.3 billion liabilities through his fraud and scammed his investors which were later exposed in the year 2002. He was trialed for five years and was sentenced to prison in the year 2007 for 13 years which was later reduced to 10 years by his appeal.
