Rudy Kurniawan

Rudy Kurniawan is an amusing fraudster who conducted the first ever wine fraud. Kurniawan, being from the wealthy family from Indonesia bought so many classic and elite wines in the auctions of California. Dr. Foti is how he was called for his Burgundy wine collection; he was stated to have the greatest cellar of wines during the year 2006. He later sold off his collected wines at the auctions with record breaking amounts, both in wines and money. The suspicion on him rose when the makers of those classic burgundy wines told that the bottles were fake and wasn't produced from their gardens, in the year 2007.

The claims later escalated in the year 2008 when the makers of burgundy wine told the auctioneers that they never produced their limited collection wines before 1982 and still in the label it was stated as 1971. In the year 2012, Kurniawan's house in California was raided by the FBI. After many allegations on his wines the FBI found a mini wine factory in his house which transfers non elite quality wines inside the elite wine bottles. He was sentenced to 20 years of imprisonment for mail fraud, wire fraud and the new category wine fraud.
