Letter 1
Hello, my darling Eric!
How are you today? Thank you for your wonderful letter—reading it always fills my heart with happiness. Today, I'm off to my grandparents’ village again. I truly enjoy these visits. I feel at peace when I'm in the countryside, and most of my childhood was spent there with my grandparents. The memories from those days are so dear to me.
Unfortunately, life in the village has become harder than in the city. My grandparents’ house isn’t connected to gas, so they heat it with firewood. They have to draw water from a well outside, and in winter, they face the daily task of keeping the stove going to keep warm. They also have many chores to manage—chickens, geese, and a large garden where they grow vegetables. When I visit, I always try to help them with the work.
Every year, they plant a variety of vegetables and preserve them through pickling, making jams, and preparing compotes. I really hope that one day you will get to taste my grandmother’s pickles—they are a true masterpiece! She follows traditional recipes passed down from her mother.
This time, my grandmother asked me to buy some seeds for carrots, cucumbers, dill, parsley, turnips, beets, and tomatoes, as they’re cheaper when bought out of season. Grandpa, on the other hand, has bought firewood for the year, which needs to be sawn and split. He asked me to come help him store it properly, so that's what I’ll be doing when I arrive.
I love my grandparents dearly. They’ve spent their entire lives there, and though life is tough for them, they never complain. I hope they continue to live many more years, but I also cherish the time I spend with them now.
I hope I haven’t upset you with this story. I just wanted you to know more about my life and my family. Now you understand a little more about village life in Russia.
It’s time for me to go now, but I will miss you. Take care, and I look forward to hearing from you soon.
Yours,
Peter Sally
Letter 2
Hello, my love Eric!
As always, I was so happy to read your letter. It always brightens my day. Today, I couldn’t stop thinking about the possibility of meeting you. I came home and decided to look into how I could visit you, as the situation in the world has made things much more complicated. I spent some time researching the requirements for travel, and it looks like I’ll need a passport, a visa, and tickets. I only have my passport at the moment.
I’ve already applied for a visa remotely at your country’s embassy. If they approve my application, I will have to go for an interview and provide a set of documents. I’m nervous about whether the visa will be approved, given the current situation, but I decided to try anyway. I didn’t consult with you first, and I hope that’s okay. If you think I shouldn’t go through with this, just let me know, and I will cancel it right away.
By the way, I had to pay a consular fee of 5850 rubles, and now I’m waiting for approval for an interview. I also found out that there are no direct flights from Russia to your country due to sanctions, so the only option is to fly through Turkey, with a connection in Istanbul. It all seems so complicated, but I am willing to do whatever it takes to be with you.
I can’t imagine living here without you, and I don’t want to. I need you in my life, and I want to build a future with you.
With all my love and hoping to meet soon,
Your Peter Sally
Letter 3
Hello, my love Eric!
I’m overjoyed to receive your letter again. Every word we share means so much to me, and I feel like our connection grows deeper with each message. No matter where I am or what I’m doing, I always dream of our future together. I am certain that we will be incredibly happy, because the foundation of our relationship is love—true, deep love.
You have become my goal in life, and I never want to lose you, not even for a moment. I know this may sound a bit extreme, but I would do anything—no matter how bold or unconventional—to be with you and to nurture our love.
I’ve always wanted to find a man as wonderful as you, and now that I’ve found you, I’m grateful every day. I pray for you, asking God to keep you safe, to guide you, and to bless you with all the good things in life because you are so precious to me.
It’s hard to put into words all the feelings I have for you. That’s why I long to be near you soon, so I don’t have to rely on words alone to express my love. I often dream of you, and in those dreams, I never want to wake up. It’s bittersweet, because when I do wake up, I realize it was just a dream. But I have hope that soon we will be together for real, and we won’t need our letters anymore.
I’m still waiting for news about my visa, and I’m hopeful that it will be approved. Once I know more, I’ll keep you updated.
With all my love and anticipation for the day we meet,
Your Peter Sally
