Scamming scenario:Agent James Clark has a fake Facebook account. He is working off of another fake Facebook account with the name of the sister of a friend in a group with another lady whom I have known for about 15 years. She told me no way was the real sister of our associate a scammer. The sister's account was either hacked or copied, but the two accounts are being run by the same person. She comes on asking if I have heard about the Corporation for National and Community Service She referred me to a website for Agent James Clark, but it is not the genuine website for CNCS. She sent me pictures of the money that she claimed FedEx had sent her. His telephone number is from Washington State, not Washington D.C. I asked the woman if she had to pay a fee. She said she paid the agent $1,000. She paid it with five Google gift cards. Please tell me what government agency accepts gift cards! I wrote a letter to the editor of our county newspaper about the scam that has hit a number of people in our area. I also called the county police department, but they have not returned my call. I have reported both accounts to Facebook. This is a scam if ever I saw one.
